The Entrepreneur Life

I’ve entered a new stage in my life. One where I work so hard I want to cry. One where I am pursuing dreams and I spend every waking moment trying to make more money. I mean seriously, that’s what I am doing these days — I’m trying to get rich, or die trying.

So let’s review last week for me!

Sunday: 3pm — 10pm Record new episode of ManaNation, my Magic Podcast.

Monday: Woke up at 6am, set laptop to do next compression of the ManaNation episode for upload. Got up at 7:30 for the day. I usually head out to Databanq at 8am. I’ve begun making it a habit to use my lunch break for ManaNation work. Monday is for uploading the episode and I used it to handle the ordering of some ManaNation t-shirts. Monday night was going to be a podcast with WhatTheCast but I decided to call in for it and spend time with K.

Tuesday: Databanq 9am-6pm then I went home and did more ManaNation work. Saturday was a big event for us as it was our first real chance to meet the local Magic community, so I had lots to do.

Wednesday: Databang 9am-4pm. I left early because I had a doctor’s appointment. After the doctor’s appointment I went to be with K and work more on ManaNation. I’ve been tweaking a Google Ad-Words campaign trying to draw more traffic and right now I’m averaging about 10 clicks a day, or 0.05% of times the ad is shown (which is nearing the 200,000 mark.)

Thursday: I had some stuff come up in the morning so I went in late to Databanq worked a full day there and then I went to Darren’s to edit the video, but we had some computer problems and the night ended up being largely unproductive. We got a little bit done, but largely I left there around 11pm without having accomplished 3 hours worth of work.

Friday: Databanq 9am-6pm. We’re falling into a good system at work but with a site about to go out the door it was a bit more stressful than usual. Like any good story, the heroes prevailed, the site went up, and life was good. During the day I had to run to a screen printer and pick up the t-shirts I had ordered on Monday. I also ran a few other errands. After work I went and met dad, Jessica and dad’s current girlfriend for his birthday dinner. Jessica and I took them out to dinner at Chili’s. It was a lot of fun and we gave our gifts to dad since he’s going to be busy and traveling next week. I headed home and collected my stuff for Saturday, falling into bed around 1am, only to get up again at 6am.

Saturday: The alarm went off at 6am, I hopped up and showered, shaved and plucked my eyebrows. Well, not really, I used a trimmer. I loaded up the car and headed out to get to the hotel where the Magic tournament was at around 8am. I missed one of my turns and spent 10 minutes correcting it due to the way the roads worked. The event was a huge success and we got a lot of interest from the players. I headed out around 7pm and went to hang with K. We went out to dinner and when we got back we caught on some of the shows on the DVR.

Sunday: Today I got up around 8am and did work on the ManaNation site, I wrote some emails, but largely I worked on a website I’m doing for the brother of my boss. Around 11:30 K and I went out to lunch, I nearly got swindled by Circuit City, and I headed out to meet with my video guy and edit the latest episode of ManaNation. At 4pm we met my co-host for the show, Lee, and recorded the next episode. We had planned to do two episodes today but we just weren’t prepared for the second one and so we decided to push it back. So now we’ve been spending the past 5 hours finishing up the ManaNation episode I’ll be uploading tomorrow.

Life is busy… but this is the way I like it. If I wasn’t busy, I’d be getting into trouble or wasting my time. This podcast has officially made me an entrepreneur and I’m living the “standard” entrepreneur life, that is that I’m working hard and loving it. I’m basically working two full time jobs, but I love both of them.

That being said, I crash out hard every night and I dream of swimming in money. Like any good entrepreneur.
