Day 1 is in the books

in Work

I didn’t take any photos, my workspace needs more geeky decoration before I feel I can really share it with the world, but today was a great first day.

I met almost everyone in the IT department and got my hands into a few projects. I took part in a brainstorming session for a prospective client, worked on bugs for a current client’s site, and filled out LOTS of paperwork. It always surprises me how much paperwork it takes to become an employee.

I got a walk through of all the internal systems from our system administrator, who zooms around the office on one of those razor scooters.

I memorized four different passwords that are used on multiple sites and I have to try and keep them straight in my mind.

I had Taco Bell for lunch and discovered that one of my favorite pizza joints in the world is just down the road, American Pie Pizza Company FTW!

And yet, I still must find more ways to personalize my space at work. I have a cubicle, except it’s more like a Hexicle and so that means lots of wall space. I’ll need my headphones and glasshead of course, cowboy hat, maybe a poster or two ;)

Any ideas from you guys?

How about this: The person who leaves the best suggestion in the comments will win something awesome!

Best is defined as:

  1. Feasible
  2. Not extravagant or overly pricey. I’m not spending $200 on a digital picture frame.
  3. Must be adequately geeky enough.

I would totally go for wallpapering the cube with XKCD printouts, but that’s just me . . . too bad there isn’t an XKCD-a-day calendar.
