Great Danes are like velcro
I love my dogs. Duke, our current great dane, but also our first, Elwood, are velcro dogs. Duke is by my side anytime I am home. If I go to the bathroom he escorts me and gets annoyed when I close the door.
It's both very endearing and also very funny and annoying.
And I was thinking about the breeding that led to this for the breed. Most people don't realize, but references to a 'boarhound' are referring to great danes. They were hunting dogs. So the breeding is to keep them close and not prone to wandering off when hunting. And in the modern day that means staying by my side in the house.
